Shocking AFCON Controversy: CAF Executive Slams Decision to Award Title to Morocco!

In one of the biggest scandals in African football history, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has overturned the 2025 AFCON final result, Senegal's dramatic 1-0 extra-time win over hosts Morocco, and declared Morocco champions via a 3-0 forfeit.

Senghor slams AFCON corruption in awarding morocco afcon title

The chaos stemmed from a late stoppage-time penalty awarded to Morocco in Rabat, sparking protests, a brief walk-off by Senegal players, and resumed play before Pape Gueye's extra-time winner sealed the on-field victory. Months later, CAF's Appeal Board ruled Senegal forfeited under Articles 82 & 84, handing the trophy to Morocco.

Now, a high-ranking CAF executive committee member, Augustin Senghor (former Senegalese FA president), has broken ranks with a fierce condemnation: "Football is played on the field, not in offices... This decision violates our rules and FIFA laws, it's unacceptable and abject. We have to fight against injustice and denounce it!"

Senegal plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), with calls for an independent probe into possible corruption. Even Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi has publicly rejected the awarded title, saying Senegal earned it on the pitch.

This ruling has ignited outrage across Africa- fair play vs. regulations? The debate rages on! What do you think- should the on-field result stand?
