Houston Dynamo continued their impressive MLS run on Saturday night, defeating LA Galaxy 1-0 at Shell Energy Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd of 21,063. The victory was Houston’s fourth consecutive win, with the Dynamo keeping a clean sheet in each of those victories.
The decisive moment came in the 21st minute, when Houston’s in-form Brazilian forward Guilherme converted from the penalty spot. It was another important contribution from the summer Designated Player signing, who has now scored in four straight matches.
Houston controlled much of the contest, finishing with 59% possession and three shots on target. LA Galaxy struggled to create clear opportunities, while their evening became even more difficult when Emiro Garcés was shown a red card in the 58th minute.
There was also plenty of excitement surrounding Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, who made his LA Galaxy debut as a second-half substitute. The Mexican international entered in the 65th minute but could not inspire a comeback.
The result pushes Houston firmly into the MLS Western Conference playoff picture, while the Dynamo’s momentum is becoming impossible to ignore.
